| On peut arriver en Mauritanie :
Par avion, en voiture ou en Bateau |
By Plane Flights directs : Air France : www.airfrance.fr Air Mauritanie : www.airmauritanie.mr Flights no directs: Royal Air Maroc : www.royalairmaroc.com Air Algérie : www.airalgerie.dz Tunis Air : www.tunisair.com There are regular flights to Nouakchott from Paris. Flights also leave from Morocco via Casablanca, from Senegal via Dakar, the Ivory Coast via Abidjan, Algeria via Alger, Mali via Bamako and the Canary Islands via Las Palmas. It is also possible in transit from Tunisia. By Car From Morocco you can drive to the Mauritania border and then take the track (to be sealed in June 2004) to Nouakchott. You will encounter no problems at the border crossing, either with the police or the customs. If you are coming from Senegal you have a choice of two routes: either by river ferry to Rosso or down-river on the Diama weir. Attention: If your car is older than 5 years, the Senegalese border customs will demand a official permit, obtained in your country of origin and stamped at each border-crossing. This is to prevent people from selling their old cars in Senegal. From Mali you can take the sealed road at the town of Aioune el Atrouss which descends toward southern Mauritania and finishes at Nema. From there, a track branches off eastwards toward Timbuktu. By Boat If you have time on your hands, a taste for adventure or fear of flying, it is possible to negotiate a voyage by cargo boat from a European port to Nouadhibou. The trip will take approximately twelve days and cost the price of a plane ticket. |
